15 Days Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar Budget Safari Itinerary

DAY 1 : NAIROBI - SAMBURU

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport JKIA( Nairobi ), go through the passport control then down to the luggage collection unit, collect your luggage and walk out to the arrival section and you will be met by your driver / guide and our representative holding a folder written ‘AJABU AFRICAN SAFARIS’ and your names. Then you will be taken to Jacaranda Hotel for a full Safari Briefing. After the briefing you will take a road trip about 6 hours drive to Samburu National Reserve.

You will be accommodated at the beautiful Ashnil Samburu Camp situated in Buffalo Springs Game Reserve. This camp is separated from Samburu Game Reserve by the Ewaso Nyiro River. The custom designed tents are spacious, with king beds, en suite bathrooms with permanent showers , running hot & cold water, writing desk, luggage rack, safari chairs and 240V power. Each of the tents has a perfect view of the Ewaso Nyiro River, hence you can be able to see the animals drinking water. The animals that can be found in this area are lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, zebra, gazelle, impala, giraffe. There are various activities that one can do while staying at Ashnil Samburu Camp like game drives, guided game walk, sundowners, bush dinners, cultural activities. When you arrive at the camp you will be welcomed by ever smiling staff and refreshments to quench your thirst.

DAY 2 : SAMBURU

Second day in Samburu National Reserve, the home of the Samburu Morans, will be full of joy and excitement and after bush breakfast you will do a morning game drive and see the abundance of wildlife this area has to offer and also different bird species. After the Game Drive you will visit a nearby Samburu Village and you will be entertained by the Samburu Warriors, learn about their culture and buy unique handicrafts. Around mid day you will go back to Camp and have lunch.

After Lunch you can siesta in your room and relax at the veranda overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River or you can swim and look at the scenery of this Reserve. Later in the afternoon you will commence on a walking safari and you will learn about the flora and fauna of Ashnil Samburu Camp.

After the walk you will head back to camp and freshen up and have your dinner enjoying the atmosphere at this Camp.

DAY 3 : LAKE NAKURU

After breakfast you will head to Lake Nakuru National Park and this drive will be between 6-7 Hours. On the way here you will see animals like elephants, gazelle, warthog, giraffe, secretary bird, zebra, flamingo. You will be amazed on how beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park is.

Lake Elementaita Lodge resides among vast landscape gardens with breathtaking views of the Lake. This lodge is an oasis of comfort and excellent service. The en suite rooms are nestled away in the lush flower garden. Lake Elementaita Lodge has been profiled as a Ramsar site , a wetland of international importance, home to millions of flamingos and also 350 bird species.

DAY 4 : MASAI MARA

After an early breakfast you will depart Lake Nakuru National Park and head toward the famous National Park, the Masai Mara National Park. This drive will be between 6-7 Hours.

You will be accommodated at the beautiful Sarova Mara Camp situated  in Maasai Mara Game Reserve. This area is beautiful for bird watching and it is surrounded with acacia trees. Sarova Mara Camp is an intimate  tented Camp positioned to witnessed this unique phenomenon of millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle migrating. The custom designed tents are spacious, with king beds, en suite bathrooms with permanent showers , running hot & cold water, writing desk, safari chairs and 240V power. The animals that can be found in this area are the Big 5 ( lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, rhino ) , wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, impala, giraffe. When you arrive at the lodge you will be welcomed by smiles and refreshments to quench your thirst.

DAY 5 : MASAI MARA

The Second Day in Maasai Mara will be full of joy and excitement and after breakfast you will do a morning game drive and see the abundance of wildlife that Maasai Mara has to offer and also different bird species. After the Game Drive you will go back to Camp and have lunch.

After Lunch you will siesta in your room and relax at the veranda overlooking the Mara Plains. Later in the afternoon you will commence on a walking safari and you will learn about the flora and fauna of Sarova Mara Game Camp.

After the walk you will head back to camp and freshen up and have your dinner enjoying the atmosphere at Sarova Mara Camp.

DAY 6 : SERENGETI

On this Day you will depart Masai Mara Game Reserve heading toward Isebania Kenya / Tanzania Border. This drive will be about 5 hours. When you get to the border you will exchange vehicles and Guides.

After Crossing the border you will drive to the Central Serengeti and this is the area where the world greatest show on earth takes place and that’s the wildebeest migration. On the way you will see animals like lions, zebra, leopard, gazelle, hartebeest, impala, warthog, unique wildlife. You will be accommodated at the beautiful Seronera Wildlife Lodge which is located on the migratory route and it provides front seat viewing of the animals.

This lodge is artfully constructed around rocky areas, near the lodge there is a waterhole which attracts animals day and night and it’s a perfect spot to see the lions and leopards.

The African style rooms offer king size beds, en suite bathrooms, mosquito nets. All the rooms have stunning views over the Serengeti plains. Other facilities found here are the chui restaurant,  indoor bar, outdoor bar, swimming pool, library and gym.

DAY 7 : SERENGETI

Wake up and see the sunrise in this beautiful morning and after breakfast you will do a full day game drive and you might see a lion still eating its prey from the night or a leopard up on a tree finishing a wildebeest. This is when you need to ensure that your camera batteries are fully charged and you are ready to take your photos. Serengeti its known for its abundance of wildlife and that’s why there is no safari better than been in the Serengeti National Park.

You will stop in a beautiful location to have a bush lunch with the background sounds of elephants and lions. Having lunch in the bush is really amazing and its an experience unlike any other.

After the bush lunch you will head back slowly to the lodge and at the lodge you can siesta at your room or relax by reading a book, playing board games. Come night time you will have your dinner in this fantastic location.

DAY 8 : NGORONGORO CRATER

After breakfast you will drive and head to the world heritage site which is the Ngorongoro Crater and on the way you will see plenty of animals like baboon, zebra, wildebeest, impala, lion, rhino, giraffe. This is the place where the Big 5 are spotted. You will do a game drive around the Crater rim. You will be accommodated at the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge which is strategically perched on the rim of this ‘Garden of Eden’, affording unbelievable views plunging down over the crater floor, 7,500 feet above sea level.

The lodge has been built from stones and local wood and it provides panoramic view of the Crater. The prehistoric site of Olduvai George lies closer to this lodge. When you arrive at the lodge you will be welcomed with open arms and really feel at home.

You will see your rooms and feel like been in heaven because all the rooms have a fabulous view of the Crater. In the evening you will be treated to the finest of cuisines that the chefs have to offer at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.

DAY 9 : LAKE MANYARA

After breakfast you will be on your way to the amazing one of the kinds Lake Manyara which is at the foot of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. The road trip will enable you to see abundance of animals like lions, baboons, zebra, elephants, gazelle, lizards, warthog, flamingos. On the way you will visit the Hadzabe / Datoga tribes and see there unique culture and fascinating way of there life. You will see how the women make there beaded ornaments like bracelets, necklace, head scarf, earrings and learn about their day to day life. These women are very hardworking from collecting firewood to fetching water every single day. You will also enter there houses and you will learn more about there culture.  You will be accommodated at the amazing and one of the kind Bougainvillea Safari Lodge which is very romantic ,exclusive and set around gardens.

This lodge is very special in the sense that its location will blow your mind away and its designed in amazing way. The rooms are equipped with king size beds, mosquito nets, large bathroom, fireplace and veranda.

DAY 10 : TARANGIRE

After breakfast you will drive towards the 3^rd largest National Park in Tanzania and on the way you will be amazed by the scenery and abundance of  wild animals that you will see. You will enjoy your drive and take plenty of photos and in the afternoon you will stop at a perfect location to have your lunch in the middle of the bush with background sounds of birds, elephants. You will be accommodated at the Tarangire River Camp  which is located very near to the entrance of Tarangire national park. This Camp offers privacy and exclusivity rarely found anywhere inside a National Park. The Camp is ideal for anyone wanting to experience nature in its purest form.

The rooms are built on a wooden platform having a thatched roof. All the rooms have stunning views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro at a distance.

You will be welcomed with open arms and offered refreshments and the Camp Manager will brief you about the camp facilities. You will freshen up and get ready for dinner and enjoy in been in the 6^th largest national park in Africa and that’s the Tarangire.

DAY 11 : TARANGIRE

Another beautiful day here in Tarangire National Park and after breakfast you will commence on a morning game drive and this is whereby you need to ensure that your camera batteries are full charged if you want to get those amazing elephant photos. Tarangire is famous for elephants, birds, pythons, warthog, zebra, wildebeest. giraffe, baboons, waterbuck and other common animals.

After the game drive you will head back to the lodge and enjoy your lunch with that glass of wine and then siesta in your room. Around 4 pm you will stretch your legs and do a walking safari with an experienced guide who will teach you about the flora and fauna of the Tarangire Park and the Maasai and Datoga tribes that live in that area The beauty of doing a walking safari is that it gives you an exhilarating feeling of adventure.

Around 7 pm you will get ready to have dinner and enjoy the  cuisine that Tarangire River Camp has to offer.

DAY 12 : ARUSHA

After breakfast you will depart Tarangire National Park heading to the famous town of Arusha which is known for its Coffee plantation, Arusha National Park, views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. On the way you will see animals, villages and different people.

You will be accommodated at the magnificent one of the best Arusha Hotel where there is seamless fusion of  warmth and comfort. This hotel has a homely feel and the staff make ones stay here a memorable one. You will be welcomed like royals and offered refreshments to quench your thirst.

Around 3pm  you will visit the Maasai Market which is a place where you can buy handicrafts made from ebony, redwood and various paintings all made by Tanzanians. After the Maasai Market you will head back to the hotel  whereby you will relax and enjoy the sunset having some drinks and snacks.  Then later you will freshen up and get ready for dinner.

DAY 13 : ZANZIBAR

After breakfast you will depart Arusha Hotel heading towards Arusha Airport to catch your 2 hours flight to Zanzibar. Zanzibar its known for its culture, spicy food, historical places and white sandy beach. You will be accommodated at the beautiful  Mtoni Marine Hotel which has an amazing view of the beach.

This hotel is located on the west coast of Zanzibar and just 10 mins drive from Stone Town. The beach front is only 50m away from the dinning area and you can relax and enjoy the breeze. This hotel has the most amazing gardens and I am sure you will be impressed on how green this area is.

From the rooms, swimming pool, restaurants, bar, one can surely relax and enjoy this unforgettable place. You can unwind  by sun bathing or swimming. In the afternoon you will have lunch then go on a tour of Stone Town with a guide and learn about this historical place.

After the Stone Town tour you will head back to the resort and relax by the bar and have your famous cocktail. In the evening you will have dinner  hearing the echo sounds of the ocean.

DAY 14 : ZANZIBAR

You will wake up on this day full of energy and ready to experience the Zanzibar Island. After breakfast you will head out on a boat to the Prison Island which is one of the historical place found here in Zanzibar. This prison Island is now a hotel and many visitors stay there. You will be amazed by the beauty of this place and you will see the largest tortoise on earth at the Prison Island.

You can also do snorkeling if you are a fun of snorkeling and see different kinds of fishes that are found in the ocean. After the tour you will have a picnic lunch then head back on a boat to the resort.

In the afternoon you can relax and enjoy the views of the ocean. Come evening time you can have your spicy food  and that famous cocktail.

DAY 15 : DEPARTURE

This is your last day here in Zanzibar and you can have breakfast and relax at the resort awaiting time to be taken to the Zanzibar Airport to catch your flight to Jomo Kenyatta Airport ( Nairobi ). In the afternoon you will head to the Zanzibar Airport and you will take your flight to Nairobi with Kenya Airways/Precision Airways. You will be accommodated at the Boulevard Hotel.

When you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Airport you will be met by a representative from Boulevard Hotel and they will take you to the hotel.

Around evening time you will be transported to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to catch your flight home. BON VOYAGE.Have a safe Journey!!
